§ Sir R. Russellasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he will revise paragraphs 31–3 of Command Paper No. 4289, concerning the effect of a rise in producer price levels in Great Britain on the volume of agricultural production, in view of the policy set out in paragraph 19 of the Opinion concerning the Applications for Membership from the United Kingdom, Ireland, Denmark and Norway, by the European Economic Community Commission on 3rd October, 1969 of avoiding increases 520W in agricultural production in candidate countries.
§ Mr. Cledwyn HughesThis is not called for. As explained in paragraph 26 of Command Paper No. 4289 the assessment of the effects of adopting the common agricultural policy is based on that policy as it now stands. Existing policy does not provide for the limitation of production.
