HC Deb 23 March 1970 vol 798 c315W
Mrs. Ewing

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a statement on the working of the new social work departments of local authorities and on their staffing position.

Mr. Ross

Since 17th November, 1969, the local authority social work departments which were established under the Social Work (Scotland) Act 1968, have been proceeding with internal reorganisations to enable them to provide an integrated social work service. The staffing of the social work departments is the responsibility of the local authorities, and many are increasing staff complements in order to meet the demands on the service.
