HC Deb 20 March 1970 vol 798 c240W
Mr. John Hall

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the total Post Office staff time, including counter staff time, which he estimates was spent on National Savings work during the financial year 1968–69.

Mr. Taverne

Approximately 3,990 man years on the basis that one man equals 52 weeks of 42 hours per week. This figure does not include the time spent on National Savings work by the staff of the Department for National Savings, formerly the Post Office Savings Department.
