HC Deb 17 March 1970 vol 798 c111W
Mrs. Ewing

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what proposals he now has to implement the Government's policy of limiting primary school classes to 30 pupils in England and Wales.

Mr. Edward Short

The continuing high output of teachers from training and the large current building programmes will enable the size of the largest classes to be progressively reduced. Already we are within sight of eliminating classes of over 40, and the process will continue.
