asked the Minister of Transport what is the total amount of grant aid in 1970 for Welsh railway services; and how it is distributed.

The total cost in 1970 of the grants I have undertaken to pay under Section 39(1) of the Transport Act, 1968, in respect of railway passenger services which operate wholly within Wales is £1,641,000.
