HC Deb 11 March 1970 vol 797 c314W
Mr. Wellbeloved

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what extra height he at present estimates is needed to add to riparian banks and walls downstream of the proposed Thames flood barrier.

Mr. Mackie

Where a high standard of protection is justified walls would need to be raised from between 3 and 6 ft. depending upon the standard of existing defences, the position on the river and the form of construction. The defences would have to be constructed with full regard to the riparian usage of the river frontage and with the maximum possible regard to amenities.
