is expected that the price of fertilisers will be increased in Orkney and Shetland due to the recent increase in duty.
§ Mrs. Gwyneth DunwoodyBritish production of these fertilisers is sufficient to meet all foreseeable demands in full, and I understand that the British manufacturers have no intention of increasing, during the present season, the prices for these nitrogenous fertilisers which they announced last summer. The effects of the provisional anti-dumping charges on the price of the imported fertilisers will depend on the commercial arrangements between the importers, merchants and farmers. The reason for imposing these charges was explained in the Answer which my right hon. Friend gave on 5th March to a Question by my hon. Friend the Member for Aberdeenshire, West (Mr. James Davidson).—[Vol. 797, c. 157.]
