Mr. Carter-Jones

asked the President of the Board of Trade (1) if he is aware of the confusion regarding the use and quality of fire extinguishers; if he will use his powers under the Trade Descriptions Act, 1968, to introduce compulsory marking orders regarding fire extinguishers; and if he will make a statement;

(2) if he will use his powers under the Trade Descriptions Act, 1968, to introduce compulsory marking orders regarding motor tyres; and if he will make a statement;

(3) if he is aware of the confusion regarding the alleged size of sheets; if he will use his powers under the Trade Descriptions Act, 1968, to introduce compulsory marking orders for the size, composition and quality of sheets; and if he will make a statement.

Proposals for marking orders in respect of fire extinguishers, motor tyres, and sheets are still being studied.
