§ Mr. J. E. B. Hillasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what estimated percentage of the retail price of food generally, and of any specified food, is currently received by the home producer; and how this compares with the estimated percentages received 10, 20 and 40 years ago or for such dates as are convenient.
§ Mr. MackieMost of the food sold over the retail counter has been packaged or processed. For example, wheat reaches the consumer in the form of flour, bread, cakes, biscuits and so on. The home-produced and imported content of 293W these innumerable products varies greatly, and the price range can be very wide. To prepare estimates of the kind mentioned in the Question would necessitate detailed analysis of many factors of this sort, and the expense would not be justified.
