§ 34. Mr. Biffenasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether he is aware of the violence amongst pupils at secondary schools, and the hazards this is creating for teachers; what steps he is proposing to take to deal with this; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Edward ShortI have, of course, seen reports of violence among pupils of secondary schools. Any violence in schools must be a matter for concern, but it is possible that some reports may give an exaggerated impression of the extent of the problem. Discipline in schools is a matter for the teachers, Governors and the local education authorities.
