§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will bring up to date the table of figures published by his Department on 3rd March, 1969, giving the disposable income, expenditure and saving per head of population for each of the years from 1946 to date, and add to these figures the tax direct and indirect deducted for each of these years and where possible on a personal income tax basis.
§ Mr. Taverne; For the figures for disposable income, consumers' expenditure, 81W personal saving and direct tax, I would refer my hon. Friend to my reply on 3rd February to a similar question by the hon. Member for St. Ives (Mr. Nott). Indirect taxes are included in the figures for consumers' expenditure but I regret that separate estimates of these are not available at constant prices and could not be prepared without unjustifiable expenditure.—[Vol. 795. c. 94.]
