asked the Minister of Technology if he intends to introduce legislation to raise the limit for credit guarantees under Section 7 of the Shipbuilding Industry Acts, 1967 and 1969.

Longer-term arrangements in this field are under review and the work put in hand earlier this year has still to be completed. But in the meanwhile we will introduce legislation to raise the limit on these guarantees from £400 million to £600 million.
