HC Deb 22 July 1970 vol 804 c154W
98. Mr. Clark Hutchison

asked the Minister of Technology how many new jobs were in prospect in Scotland on 18th June, 1970.

Mr. Ridley

On 30th June, 1970, the nearest date for which a figure is available, the number of jobs expected to arise in Scotland within the next four years in authorised new industrial buildings and buildings taken over by manufacturing firms amounted to some 39,400. This figure is an indication of new manufacturing jobs which the Ministry of Technology is aware are estimated to arise from projects of which it is informed: it is not an estimate of all jobs likely to be created in Scotland over the period.
