§ Mr. BryanSet out below are the average annual compound rates of increase in men's basic wage rates between 1st January, 1954, and 31st December, 1969, for the occupations concerned:

Dockers 5.0* Coalminers 5.0 Firemen (Provinces) 5.1 Bus drivers (London Transport) 5.7 Railwaymen 5.3 Building trade workers 4.3 * Includes effect of modernisation payment of 8s. a day payable since 18th September, 1967. These figures do not of course correspond to average rates of increase in earnings in these occupations.
