HC Deb 21 July 1970 vol 804 cc67-8W
51. Mr. Dodds-Parker

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what has been the amount of loan funds made available from the Development Fund to the Council for Small Industries in respect of tourist enterprises including hotels in rural parts of development areas up to 30th June, 1970; and whether he will set out the principles on which such loans are granted or refused so that applicants will have an opportunity to know whether their application has been equitably dealt with.

Mr. Patrick Jenkin

£1,050,000 has been made available to the Council for these purposes up to 31st March, 1970. It is not possible to give a comparable figure for the three months to 30th June, 1970, but the amount approved so far for the year to 31st March, 1971, is £720,000.

An applicant's business experience and financial standing, the viability and prospects of success of the proposal for which the loan is required, and the availability of loan fund money are all taken into account in the consideration of applications.
