HC Deb 20 July 1970 vol 804 c43W
Mr. Barry Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how many dentists are employed in the school dental service in Wales; how many there are in Flintshire; whether she is satisfied with these figures; what plans she has for the service; and if she will make a statement.

Mr. van Straubenzee

Expressed in full-time equivalents, the School Dental Service had 87 dentists in Wales in 1969 and five in Flintshire. The ratio of dentists to school children in Flintshire and in Wales as a whole compares well with the average for England and Wales. More dentists are nevertheless needed and the Authority has been encouraged to increase recruitment.
