asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he will re-examine the case put forward for the early provision of a hospital in Redditch; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Alison

Responsibility for planning new hospital provision for Redditch, and for its priority in its building programme, lies primarily with the Birmingham Regional Hospital Board. After careful consideration of the region's priority needs, the board has decided that an early start cannot be made on the planned new hospital for Redditch.
