HC Deb 20 July 1970 vol 804 cc22-3W
Mr. Ron Lewis

asked the Minister of State for Defence if he will now make a statement on the future use of Hadrian's Camp, Carlisle; and if he will reconsider the possibility of establishing Hadrian's Camp again as a military unit of some kind.

Mr. Ian Gilmour

No future use is foreseen for Hadrian's Camp as a military installation. No other Government Departments have expressed an interest, and a small area of the camp is in the process of being sold to the Cumbria Police Authority. Discussions about the disposal of the remainder are in progress with the local authorities.
