§ 63. Mr. Michael Foot
asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether he is aware that the Ghanaian Government, without recourse to any legal process, removed from the bank account in Accra 4W of a United Kingdom citizen a sum of money; and what steps have been taken to assist him in attempting to secure the repayment of this sum.
§ Mr. Anthony Royle
If the hon. Member is referring to Mr. Geoffrey Bing, I know of the allegation to which he refers. Mr. Bing's representatives were told in February 1968 that Her Majesty's Government had done everything they usefully could do on Mr. Bing's behalf. But I have a report that the money in question has been refunded to Mr. Bing's account.
