HC Deb 20 July 1970 vol 804 cc16-7W
96. Mr. Ian Campbell

asked the Minister of Technology what estimate he has received of the build-up in the labour force, male and female, over the next few years in the ex-Royal Navy Torpedo Factory, Alexandria, taken over recently by the Plessey Company.

Mr. Ridley

I understand from the Plessey Company that they expect to build up the work force at Alexandria to about 500 by the end of 1970 of which about 50 are likely to be women. A build up of a further 500 is estimated during 1971. The Company intend to fill as many jobs as possible from the staff of the former Torpedo factory.
