Dame Joan Vickers

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether Her Majesty's Government accept Recommendation No. 594 on the development of modern language teaching in Turkey which was adopted by the Consultative Assembly of the Council of Europe on 26th January 1970; and whether they will take action on the proposals contained in point 8(c) of this recommendation.

Recommendation 594 is acceptable in principle to Her Majesty's Government.

Suggestions for ways in which we could help development of modern language teaching in Turkey have been put to the Secretariat of the Council of Europe.
