HC Deb 15 July 1970 vol 803 cc219-20W
Mr. Sillars

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what medical cover is provided for women from the Cumnock Burgh and Cumnock Landward areas who have their confinements in Kilmarnock Maternity Hospital.

Mr. Gordon Campbell

This is a general practitioner unit and patients in it are normally under the supervision of their own general practitioner. I understand from the Western Regional Hospital Board that when, as in the case of most women from the Cumnock area, it is not practicable because of distance for their general practitioner to provide medical cover for them at the hospital, medical services are provided by the staff of the Ayrshire Central Hospital.
