HC Deb 08 July 1970 vol 803 c53W
49. Mr. John Wells

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will take steps to require local road authorities to list well-known short cuts in their areas and give urgent attention to eliminating danger spots on these roads.

Mr. Younger

My right hon. Friend will certainly be prepared to consider any proposals for the improvement of heavily used short cuts which local highway authorities may put to him, but he does not think it proper for him to give directions to these authorities about the priorities they should adopt for the improvement of roads which are their responsibility.
