HC Deb 07 July 1970 vol 803 c26W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Minister for the Civil Service whether he will give details of the salaries paid to all chairmen and members of nationalised and statutory boards, together with their expenses and all other allowances and pension rights, and where applicable those who are on a part-time basis; and what is the average number of hours work per week or per annum which these part-time members give to these appointments.

Mr. David Howell

Details of the salaries paid to chairmen and members of public boards of a commercial character are published each year in a White Paper. Their business expenses are reimbursed as necessary and they do not receive expense allowances or other form of allowance. It would not be appropriate to publish estimates of the time spent on the work by part-time members, who are expected to put in the hours necessary to carry out the duties assigned to them.
