§ 22. Mr. Ashtonasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will provide an estimate of the revenue to be obtained from the National Coal Board by levying a value-added tax of 10 per cent. on the industry.
§ Mr. Patrick JenkinIf a value-added tax were charged at 10 per cent. on the National Coal Board's purchases as well as on its sales, the net tax to be obtained from the National Coal Board, on the basis of the board's account for 1968–69, would have been about £50 million.
