HC Deb 29 January 1970 vol 794 c371W
23. Mr. Edward M. Taylor

asked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity if she will make a statement on the industrial disputes in the London docks.

Mrs. Castle

The T. & G.W.U. is still maintaining its ban on the operation of additional modernised berths pending Devlin Stage II negotiations. In these negotiations the employers in the Enclosed Docks have indicated to the union their willingness to reconsider the offer which was narrowly rejected by the men on 19th November. I understand they will be tabling definite alternative proposals at a joint meeting next Monday, 2nd February.
