HC Deb 29 January 1970 vol 794 c374W
41. Mr. Biffen

asked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity how many income increases have been notified to her Department since the beginning of the latest phase of incomes policy; and how many were for increases less than 2½ per cent., how many for increases ranging from 2½ per cent. to 4½ per cent., and how many for increases over 4½ per cent.

Mr. Harold Walker

The range of 2½ to 4½ per cent. for pay settlements laid down in the present White Paper is applied at an annual rate. Fourteen major settlements affecting 10,000 or more workers have been notified, and of these none was below the range, five were within the range, and nine were estimated to be above it. Information about smaller settlements could be obtained only at disproportionate cost.
