HC Deb 29 January 1970 vol 794 c398W
Captain Orr

asked the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications what representations he has had from the British Broadcasting Corporation with regard to the discontinuation of both high- and low-power transmissions for Radios 1, 2, 3 and 4 on medium wave; what authorisation he has given for the redeployment of any of these frequencies for local radio services; which frequencies have been so authorised; at which locations; on what transmitted power; and with effect from what dates.

Mr. Stonehouse

The B.B.C. has offered a number of suggestions for redeploying the frequencies at present used for transmitting Radios 1, 3 and 4. I am still considering these.

As to the other parts of the Question, technical authorisation will be given in stages for the use of medium frequencies for local radio as the service develops. These authorisations will be announced from time to time by the B.B.C.
