§ Mr. Roy Hughesasked the Secretary of State for Wales if, in connection with his new proposals on the reorganisation of local government in Glamorgan and Monmouth, which are to be announced in a few weeks' time, he will also incorporate the principle of a staffing commission to protect the interests of the local government officers affected by the changes.
§ Mr. George ThomasProposals for a staff commission to safeguard the interests of staff affected by local government reorganisation were made in the White Paper "Local Government in Wales" (Cmnd. 3340). I intend that the jurisdiction of this commission shall extend to Glamorgan and Monmouthshire as well as to the rest of Wales.
