§ 42. Mr. William Priceasked the Minister of Transport what estimate he has 293W made of the number of lives saved by the breathalyser since its introduction.
§ Mr. MulleySince the Road Safety Act, 1967, came into force, the number of road deaths has fallen on average by about 1,000 a year. The particularly heavy reduction in accidents between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m. indicates that the drink and drive legislation played the greater part.
§ Mr. Peter Archerasked the Minister of Transport what action he proposes to take in relation to the memorandum submitted to him by the Law Society relating to breath testing.
§ Mr. MulleyI would refer my hon. Friend to the answer I gave to the hon. Member for Worcestershire, South (Sir G. Nabarro) and my hon. Friend the Member for Ealing, North (Mr. Molloy) earlier today.
