asked the Minister of Transport if he will introduce legislation to reduce the restrictions under which local authorities can offer reduced bus fares to retirement pensioners; and if he will make a statement.

Provisions in the Transport Act, 1968 and the Transport (London) Act, 1969 have already removed restrictions on local authorities' powers to arrange these concessions if they so wish.
