§ 83. Mr. Pavittasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government when the London Borough of Brent or its predecessor, the Borough of Willesden, last designated slum property in its area; how many units were so designated; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. FreesonThe last clearance areas in Brent were those covering 342 unfit houses declared at South Kilburn in April, 1964, and June, 1965. Compulsory purchase of these and some fit dwellings was confirmed in December, 1966. I understand that some 320 houses are still standing. Ninety-eight of these are boarded up, 59 obsolescent properties not classified as slums when the order was confirmed but which have probably deteriorated are still occupied, and 165 houses confirmed to be unfit are still standing and occupied by more than 500 families. In addition, 350 houses occupied by some 700 families are still standing in the area of the earlier Stonebridge redevelopment scheme.
