HC Deb 22 January 1970 vol 794 cc192-3W
Mr. William Hamilton

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will make a statement on the relationship between the proposals for increases in nurses' pay and the prices and incomes policy.

Mr. Crossman

The White Paper on Productivity, Prices and Incomes Policy after 1969 provides for increases outside the normal range in certain circumstances, and in the Government's view the pay of nurses is a special case calling for the exceptional increase offered by the Management Side of the Nurses and Midwives Whitley Council.
