HC Deb 21 January 1970 vol 794 cc137-8W
Mr. Robert Howarth

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he will now announce the inclusive tour control prices to apply in the winter period 1970–71.

Mr. Mason

I have decided to repeat the tariff that has applied last winter and this, except that I am extending it to

when the incident occurred. The Indian aircraft, which had been cleared down to 1,350 feet for its initial approach to Northolt, reported being at 500 feet at about 6 miles from touchdown. In view of the high ground ahead and to the right of its approach path, the G.C.A. Controller at Northolt ordered an immediate climb and left-hand orbit and immediately informed Heathrow Approach Control. It was during this emergency manoeuvre that the Constellation passed beneath the Boeing.

In the meantime, I am considering further with my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Defence whether any additional safeguards might be taken to avoid a similar occurrence.
