§ Mr. CrossmanThe first phase, providing 170 maternity beds has been operational since June 1966. The second phase, with 620 acute beds and supporting diagnostic departments, was completed last year, some 500 beds are in use and the rest are being brought into use gradually. It is hoped that the third phase, the psychiatric block, will begin to operate by the end of 1972.
