§ Mr. Barnesasked the President of the Board of Trade what conclusions were reached at the recent special meeting on aircraft noise of the International Civil Aviation Organisation.
§ Mr. Goronwy RobertsThe I.C.A.O. meeting followed up the London Aircraft Noise Conference over which my right hon. Friend presided in 1966 and achieved good results in laying the basis for effective international action to reduce aircraft noise. Agreement was reached on initial noise certification standards for future subsonic jet airliners and we hope to lay an Order in Council before the Easter Recess to implement these standards in the United Kingdom. As the other recommendations agreed upon are wide ranging, I propose to place a report of the meeting in the Library as soon as it is available.
