HC Deb 25 February 1970 vol 796 c334W
76. Dr. Gray

asked the President of the Board of Trade what progress has been made in his consultations with the Indian Government on arrangements to compensate the Indian textile industry for the loss of the Commonwealth preference it now enjoys.

Mr. Mason

In the official discussions in New Delhi in December, it was agreed that, following a meeting at technical level involving the industries of the two countries, there would be further discussions between Governments. The technical meeting took place in January. No date has yet been fixed for further discussions between Governments. As regards possible damage to Indian exports, I would refer my hon. Friend to the statement made by my predecessor on 22nd July, 1969.
