Mr. Bruce-Gardyne

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what proportion of gross personal incomes per head of population was absorbed by central and local government taxation of incomes and by National Insurance contributions, respectively, in the United Kingdom and, from information available to him from international sources, in each of the member countries of the European Community, in 1964 and at the latest date for which statistics are available.
