HC Deb 24 February 1970 vol 796 c301W
89. Mr. Atkinson

asked the Secretary of State for Local Government and Regional Planning how many of the members appointed to serve on the Royal Commission on Environmental Pollution are either mechanical, civil, aeronautical, nuclear or soil engineers; what engineering experience they have had in the design and construction of engines, road vehicles, aircraft, power stations, nuclear installations, sewage plants, waste destruction plants or any engineering which emits pollution; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Crosland

Mr. Iliff is a Chemical Engineer and has had experience in the operation of chemical plants. It is not practicable to provide in a body of this kind for the representation of all branches of the professions concerned; but the membership of the Commission offers a wide range of relevant experience which can be supplemented by evidence and advice as required.
