HC Deb 24 February 1970 vol 796 c288W
Mr. Robert Edwards

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what was the total amount paid from Government sources to the County Borough of Dudley in rate support grants and their equivalent in each of the past seven years; and what is the estimated sum payable in 1970–71.

Mr. Denis Howell

The total amount of the rate support grants, or their equivalents, for the county borough of Dudley for each of the years 1963–64 to 1969–70, and the estimated amount payable for 1970–71 are as follows:

£
1963–64 879–835
1964–65 890–452
1965–66 1,070,158
1966–67 3,298,315
1967–68 3,653,619
1968–69 4,072,131
1969–70 4,617,778
1970–71 5,025,868

The amounts for 1963–64 to 1965‒66 are not comparable with those for later years because the extension of the borough with effect from 1st April, 1966, almost trebled the population.
