HC Deb 23 February 1970 vol 796 c223W
78. Mr. William Hamilton

asked the Minister of Technology what steps he is taking to encourage the greater use of nickel substitutes in industry.

Dr. Ernest A. Davies

The scope for substitution is limited because for many applications there are performance specifications which can only be met by nickel's unique properties. Continuing work on possible substitutes however is being carried out by a number of Government and Government-aided bodies, and appropriate steps are being taken to bring the results to the notice of users.
