asked the Minister of Technology what rôle he plans for British participation in the European Launcher Development Organisation after 1971.

Mr. Carmichael

The extent of British participation in E.L.D.O. after 1971 will depend on the activities of the Organisation at that time. The Government will not contribute financially to any programme aimed at the further development of the Europa launcher but have agreed to do all they can to see that the Blue Streak first stage is available on a commercial basis, if it is required.
