§ Mr. Rossiasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government if he will state the average rents determined by rent assessment committees in Greater London, Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester, Sheffield, Leeds, Bristol, Teesside, Coventry, Nottingham, Hull and in each of the London boroughs, and also for England and Wales as a whole.
§ Mr. Denis HowellAverage rents determined by rent assessment committees since the start of rent regulation, in cases in the areas asked about, are given in the table below. These figures should be treated with caution, since a comparatively small proportion of cases are referred to committees, and dwellings subject to regulation differ widely in value, so that the reference to a committee of several dwellings at one or the other extreme of value can result in an average rent that is far from indicative of overall averages for the area.
