HC Deb 16 February 1970 vol 796 c41W
Mr. David Price

asked the President of the Board of Trade how many pilots were employed by British civil airlines on flying duties each year for the last 10 years, and of these how many retired from flying duties each year; and how many new pilots came into civil flying and of these how many transferred from military flying and how many came direct from training schools.

Mr. Goronwy Roberts

This information is not available in the form requested by the hon. Member. I will write to him.

Mr. David Price

asked the President of the Board of Trade what is his estimate of the future requirements of British civil airlines for trained pilots over the next five years.

Mr. Goronwy Roberts

The Board of Trade has made no survey of civil pilot employment since 1968 when it was agreed that the Civil Air Transport Industry Training Board would become the main centre for manpower planning and forecasting within the industry.
