HC Deb 05 February 1970 vol 795 cc200-1W
Mr. Carter-Jones

asked the Minister of Transport if he is aware of the practice at Euston Station of the touting for passengers for London Airport by drivers of vehicles which are not properly licensed or adequately insured; if he will take steps to end this practice; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Murray

I understand from the British Railways Board that the British Transport Police are aware of the practice of touting at Euston Station for passengers to London Airport and elsewhere, and that they take action against it when they can. Touting on railway premises is an offence under the railway byelaws and I understand that since the new station building was opened in October, 1968, there have been eight convictions for touting offences at Euston under these byelaws.
