Mr. David Howell

asked the Minister of Technology what was the output in value terms of special purpose washing and mounting machines for the cleaning of tapestries manufactured at the Royal Ordnance Factory, Burghfield, during the year 1968–69; and how many men are currently employed in manufacturing this machinery.

Mr. Carmichael

The value of the order, which covered the development and manufacture of these machines, was £9,800. The order has been completed and no effort is currently employed at the Royal Ordnance Factory in the manufacture of this machinery.
