asked the Secretary of State for Social Services, whether he has studied the document relating to the salaries claim from the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists sent him by the hon. Member for Tynemouth; and whether he will give an assurance that his instructions to his representatives on the management side of the National Whitley Council for the new negotiations will be both generous and realistic.

I look forward to receiving the document with interest. Negotiations have in fact begun and a substantial offer was made on 28th January by the Management Side of the Whitley Council, which includes representatives of the Health Departments.
