HC Deb 02 February 1970 vol 795 cc52-3W
Mr. Carol Johnson

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government whether he is satisfied with the progress being made in securing access agreements in the Forest of Bowland, Lancashire, which is an area of outstanding natural beauty; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Greenwood

I am anxious to see more public access provided in the Forest of Bowland as soon as possible. As a first stage the Lancashire County Council is proceeding with negotiations affecting three areas totalling nearly 4,000 acres. The council hopes that many access agreements will be completed this year. There is already access to 269 acres at Beacon Fell which has been acquired by the council.
