HC Deb 18 December 1970 vol 808 c458W
Mr. Rose

asked the Attorney-General whether current high court judges will be eligible to be transferred to the National Industrial Relations Court.

The Attorney-General

Under Clause 88 of the Bill, any Supreme Court judge may be nominated to be a judge of the Industrial Court but will not, on such nomination, cease to be a judge of the High Court or the Court of Appeal, as the case may be.

Mr. Rose

asked the Attorney-General how many judges will be appointed to the National Industrial Relations Court.

The Attorney-General

It is not possible to say at this stage precisely how many judges will be required from the High Court and the Court of Session.

Mr. Rose

asked the Attorney-General what will be the salary of judges of the National Industrial Relations Court and those sitting with the judge.

The Attorney-General

The judges appointed to the Industrial Court from among the superior judiciary of England and Scotland will retain their judicial offices and salaries. I am not yet in a position to say what salaries will be payable to the other members of the Court.
