HC Deb 16 December 1970 vol 808 cc359-60W
Mr. Tinn

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what steps he proposes to take to stimulate the provision of office employment in the Northern region.

Mr. Graham Page

The measures announced by my right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer on 27th October are designed to stimulate employment in the development areas, including employment in the service industries.

Mr. Tinn

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make a survey of the extent to which the operation of the Control of Office and Industrial Development Act has promoted the better distribution of office employment in the country as a whole and in the Northern area particularly.

Mr. Graham Page

I would refer the hon. Gentleman to my right hon. Friend's reply to my hon. Friend the Member for the Cities of London and Westminster (Mr. Tugendhat) on 7th December.—[Vol. 808, c.44–45.]
